Extra Item Tracking


Overview 


As a Rental Car Operator there are physical items (such as child seats, GPS units, snow chains, etc), that can be placed into vehicles when they are hired. You may wish to keep track of these physical items. Rental Car Manager (RCM) refers to these as Extra Items and allows for the tracking of these items.

Part of the tracking of these Extra Items includes knowing where an Extra Item is at any point in time, and also allowing searching for availability of Extra Items in the same manner as you can search the availability of vehicles.

Once Extra Items have been setup in the system you are able to assign an item to a hire and return the item or mark it as lost or damaged when the vehicle is returned. 

You are able to view a listing of any Extra Items, that have been tracked within RCM,  but have been removed from RCM using the Deleted Items page.   From this page you are able to see a summary listing of any bookings that the Extra Item was associated with.

Within RCM there is a report which allows you to obtain a listing of the bookings and the Extra Items assigned to these bookings that have either pick up or drop off dates within the date range entered.  This report is called the Extra Items Report, the following  article is for this report -   Extra Items Report.

RCM allows you to search for the availability of the Extra Items in the same manner that you can search for the availability of vehicles. The following  article details the Extra Item Availability Report -  Extra Item Availability

The Item Enquiry and Update screen allows you to search and update bookings which have Extra Items assigned to them. - Item Enquiry and Update 

If you are unable to see these options for Extra Item Tracking in your RCM system, this might mean that your system has not been setup to have this Extra Item Tracking turned on. If this is the case, please contact RCM Support (support@rentalcarmanager.com) to have the functionality turned on.
