Online Identity Check

Purpose

The Online Identity Check service allows you to send a request to the hirer of the vehicle to complete an identity verification check prior to pickup. The hirer of the vehicle will be requested to take a picture of their drivers license and a picture of themselves. OCR (Optical Character Recognition) and 'liveness' algorithms are used to capture the drivers license details as well as confirm that the image on the drivers licence matches the image taken of themselves. A response notification is automatically sent back to you so you can review the results prior to pickup of the vehicle.

Accessing & Sending the Online Identity Check

The Online Identity verification check can be accessed by going to the Booking Details page for the required booking - click on "ID Verification":


After clicking on the ID Verification link, the following pop-up page will be displayed:


The Verification Request will default with the hirer's first name, last name and mobile number. Please ensure the mobile number is entered with a country prefix and then the mobile number excluding any leading zero's. For example an Australian mobile entry would be "61411111111'. Click "Send SMS" to send the ID Verification Request to the customer.

The Online Identity Check Process - Customer Experience 

The Online Identity Check that your customer will complete is easy to follow and and can be completed in just a few minutes. Below is a brief summary of what the Identity Check consists of:

  1. The customer will receive a SMS with a link which will then open and begin their Identity Check:



  1. After reading and accepting the terms and conditions, the customer will be required to confirm their address:



  1. The customer will then be required to take a photo of their Driver Licence or Passport. Permission for your camera to be opened on your device may be asked to complete this step:



  1. After reviewing the Data, the customer will need to make sure the ID Details scanned are correct. The customer will then be required to do a Face Verification / short selfie video to match their uploaded ID:



  1. Once the Face Verification has been finished, the customer will be informed that their Identity Check has been completed:

Identity Check Status & Reporting within RCM 

As mentioned, when a customer completes the Online Identity Check, a response notification is automatically sent back to you so you can review the results prior to pickup of the vehicle:


Note that if the biometric verification failed any areas of the check, the two reports linked with the Online Identity Check will maintain a status of under "REVIEW". You will be able to review the data and manually Pass or Fail the Identity Check inside your own APLYiD account. Any changes made there will also be updated on the following RCM Reports as mentioned below.

There are two reports within RCM that can help you keep track of the statuses regarding previously sent Online Identity Checks to customers.

  1. ID Check - Request Report: This report covers what Identity Check requests have been sent. The results will show both Identity Checks that have been sent which have been completed or are still yet to be completed by the customer. The report importantly shows the Status of the Identity Check, whether it passed, failed or is still under review. Once the check has been marked as a Pass or Fail, you can also view the ID Check Details and ID PDF Report directly from here.

  1. ID Check - Completed Report: This Report keeps track of all Online Identity Checks completed by your customers. The report covers the overall status and result of the Identity Check, as well as the Pass and Fail marks given to the specific verification processes that the customer had to undergo whilst completing the Identity Check. If the verification successfully Passed, the PDF Report and Details of that Identity Check can be viewed from here.

Sending and Viewing the Online Identity Check from the Booking Form

You also have the option to send the Online Identity Check from the Booking Form for the relevant reservation. If the Identity Check has been completed by the customer, you can view Identification Verification Details scanned here also.
You can do this by clicking on the "..." button next to the "Primary Driver" field On the "Driver Details" tab in the Booking Form. From here, click "ID Verification".



When viewing a booking,  if an ID check has been detected, the status will be displayed in the top right  hand corner.
You can click on the 'View Status' link to view the Status Report.

If the status has an issue, it will display in Red.





The result of the ID check will also appear on the Daily Activity report
