Youngest Driver
Purpose
The Youngest Driver setup table is where driver ages are created to allow age restrictions to be set against the Vehicle Categories. This is used to ensure that the minimum age for each Vehicle Category is met, and that the appropriate Insurance options are provided (as these are age-based).
Accessing the Youngest Driver tab
The Youngest Driver tab can be found under the Rental Source program within the System Setup menu.

Viewing and Adding Youngest Driver records
Any pre-existing records will show on the Youngest Driver tab. To add a new record, click "Add Youngest Driver". Note : The default age is set to 26+ Years. This will appear when making a booking/reservation as the default Youngest Driver Age, unless changed.
This will open the Youngest Driver page where you can create a new record. Once you have filled in the mandatory fields (all), click "Submit" to save.

Display as Default | Selecting the display as default option means this will become the default Youngest Driver age that comes up when making a booking/reservation. See image below. |
Update or Delete a Youngest Driver Record

Managing Youngest Driver on Bookings
When a booking is created, if one of the Youngest Driver records is set to Display as Default, this record will be automatically selected for the booking.
If none of the records are set to Display as Default, this field will be blank, and the user can select a Youngest Driver value or leave it empty. When a booking is created and the Youngest Driver field is left empty, it will be filled in with the primary driver's age. The primary driver's age is calculated using their Date of Birth at the time of pickup.
When the primary drivers age is changed by updating the Date or Birth, is changed, the Youngest Driver value:
- Will not change if the driver is made older.
- Will not change if the driver is made younger and the "Overwrite the youngest driver age with the primary driver's age based on DOB" system parameter is set to NO.
- Will change if the driver is made younger and the "Overwrite the youngest driver age with the primary driver's age based on DOB" system parameter is set to YES.
