Q: Why are the Kms Out not appearing correctly when a booking is updated to Hired?

Issues with current vehicle mileage and booking mileage/KM's out

When a booking is hired or returned the system will only update the current vehicle mileage if the current mileage is less than the 'mileage out' or 'mileage in' saved within the booking record.
This ensures that when updating an old booking (hired or returned), the system does not change the current mileage based on the mileage found in the old booking mileage in or mileage out record.

Q: Why are the Kms Out not appearing correctly when a booking is updated to Hired?

A: Sometimes when a booking is updated to Returned and the “Kms In” is entered a typo is made and an incorrect value is entered and this value is larger than it should be.
This incorrect value is saved against the vehicle record and used the next time the vehicle is hired out to populate the” Kms Out” field.

When a booking is updated to Returned and the “Kms In” value is entered, a check is made to see if this value is larger than the value saved against the vehicle as its current mileage. If the value against the vehicle is larger than the value in “Kms In”, it is not updated. This means the next time the vehicle is hired out, the incorrect value is put in the “Kms Out” field again.

To fix this issue use the following steps:

  1. If the vehicle is not currently on hire, than simply update the vehicle record so that the correct mileage is stored against it.
  1. If the vehicle is currently on hire, then you will need to perform the following two steps:
  2. Update the booking so that the correct value is in the “Kms Out” field.
  3. Update the vehicle record to that the correct mileage is stored against it. This should be the same value you put in the “Kms Out” field.
