When trying to update or extend a booking, you may receive the following error message: "Vehicle not available, overlap with vehicle change on res ###"
This is caused by part of the booking overlapping with another booking that has had a Change Vehicle performed on it. This overlap is the result of the Pickup date and time of the second booking being before or the exact same as the Change date and time of the first booking. This can be seen in the example below and means that neither booking can be updated as long as they overlap like this.
Please Note: We have recently tidied up the rules around overlapping bookings, so it is no longer possible to create bookings that overlap like this, but there may be a few instances with old data that needs to be resolved.
This overlap can be resolved by changing the Pickup date of the second booking to be later than the Change date of the first.
Alternatively, it can be resolved by updating the Change Vehicle record of the first booking. This is done by going to Reports >> Daily Activity Report >> Change Vehicle Report, and using the filters to locate the Change Vehicle record. Then, click Update to change it.
This will open the following page where you can update the Change date and time to be earlier than the Pickup date and time of the overlapping booking. In this case, that can be achieved by making the Change date one minute earlier.
This change will be logged both against the booking and in the report. As the bookings no longer overlap, you are now free to update both of them.
