Q: Why are MarginFuel Rates not being used?
There are several reasons MarginFuel may not return these rates for bookings, including:
- Connectivity problems. Your system needs to be connected to MarginFuel to fetch the rates, and interruption of this connection will prevent rates being returned
- Incomplete set up for all Vehicle Categories/Agents. If MarginFuel is not setup to apply to specific categories or Agents, then rates will not be returned for these
- Booking made more than one year in the future. MarginFuel only calculates rates for the next year, so a booking more than one year from now will have no rates returned for it.
So, it is recommended that, even if you are using MarginFuel to return rates, you still set up default rates in your RCM system as these will be used when MarginFuel fails to return rates. If you do not set up default rates, and MarginFuel fails, then $0 rates will apply to the bookings.
Since MarginFuel only calculated rates for the next year, you may wish to prevent the creation of bookings more than a year in the future. If you are using the Availability Engine (AE), you are able to do this. Under the AE settings, there is an option that allows you to set a Max Days in Advance value and this means that any booking made with a pickup more than this many days in the future will be prevented. So, this setting can be set to 365 days, and it will prevent any bookings made more than a year from now, stopping the creation of bookings without Margin Fuel rates.
This setting can be found by going to System Setup >> Availability Engine Settings >> Availability Settings.
