Q: What rates can apply when an on-hire booking is extended?
A: There are three ways you can manage the rates when a booking is extended while on hire. For the examples below we will use a scenario where a 5 day booking is extended an extra 2 days to make it a 7 day hire total.
- Charge the existing daily rate for the extra days. E.g. if original booking is $50 per day, charge $50 for each extra day. To do this, make sure your System Parameter "Use Extend Hire Rate" is set to "No"
- Charge the extra days at the 7-day booking rate. E.g. if original booking is $50 per day for 5 days, but a 7 day rate would be $45 per day, then charge the extra days at $45 per day. To do this, make sure your System Parameter "Use Extend Hire Rate" is set to "Yes", and the System Parameter 'Calculate Extended Rate Structure using total rental days' is set to 'Yes'.
- Charge the extra days at the 2-day booking rate. E.g. if original booking is $50 per day for 5 days, but a 2 day rate would be $55 per day, then charge the extra days at $55 per day. To do this, make sure your System Parameter "Use Extend Hire Rate" is set to "Yes", and the System Parameter 'Calculate Extended Rate Structure using total rental days' is set to 'No'.
To find these System Parameters, please go to System Setup -> System Parameters -> Rate Parameters section.
