RCM has utilisation rates which allow you to apply a percentage increase or decrease on rental rates based on the utilisation of your fleet. There are now four ways in which this utilisation can be calculated, demonstrated using a booking request made in the below category:
By Average Utilisation: This is the default way utilisation is calculated, and involves averaging the days available across the booking period.
- During this nine-day period, there are three vehicles of the Electric Car category available in Cairns. So, there are 27 days available
- There are two bookings in Cairns during this period totalling to 11 days in length
- So, the Utilisation rate is 11/27 = 39%
By Pick Up Day: The utilisation is calculated only on the day of Pick Up, and ignores other days where there could be varying utilisation levels.
- For pick up on Oct 17th above, it would show as 0% utilised (no matter the length of the booking request). However picking up on Oct 21st would show as 67% utilised.
By Pick Up Hour: As above, however it is looking at the current hour of the pick up only. For e.g. a 9:30am pick up would consider only what else is booked between the hour of 9:00 and 10:00am
By Vehicles Available: This is a new feature that's only available if you have the Availability Engine in your system. This way is looking more at actual vehicle availability for the booking period rather than an average.
- Of the three vehicles in Cairns during this period, two of them have bookings during this period that would prevent them from being available for the nine-day booking.
- So, the utilisation rate is 2/3 = 67%
If you wish to change the default Rate Utilisation method, you can now do so under System Parameters/Rate Parameters (via System Setup main menu).
