Carrying Credit Cards Between Bookings

Depending on how your business operates, you may get a lot of repeat customers. If you do get repeat customers, this raises the question:
Should credit cards saved for a customer on a previous booking copy onto their new bookings?


By default, when a credit card token is saved in a payment gateway, it is saved to the customer. This means that when a new booking is made using the same customer, the credit card will copy across onto this new booking. This ensures that you will not need to retake the credit cards of frequent customers every time they book a vehicle. As you can see below, these copied cards will be marked with the information of their original booking:


However, you may want to retake you customers credit cards each time they create a new booking. Depending on how you deal with repeat customers, this could be preferred for your business, and it would prevent old or expired cards from carrying across to new bookings and accidently being used. 

So, your system can be configured such that credit cards tokens are only saved against the individual bookings, not the customers. This means that every new booking will have no credit cards saved against them and will require a new card to be added regardless of whether it is a repeat customer or a new one.
